979 was new as a demonstrator for Scania in 2011. It initially operated with Metrobus on a variety of their routes whilst warranty work was being carried out on their Scanias.

Then, in summer 2012, it moved to HCT Group whilst inspections were carried out on their fleet.

In September 2012, it moved to Stagecoach PD where it was renumbered 80019. It worked a variety of their routes whilst warranty work was carried out on their fleet. Its final day in service was 08/05/13.

It then moved RATP, entering service on route 114 on 25/05/13. It gained the fleet number YT11, and mostly worked route 114 until 12/08/13.

Following London demonstration, it was loaned to Nottingham City Transport where it was recoded 103 and worked university services.

In early 2014, it, along with its sibling vehicle, was sold to NAT (now Adventure Travel) where it became their 759.
